Dummies Unite at Radio Club Meeting
Actually the author of "Ham Radio for Dummies," Neil Silver is our video guest. If you've ever wondered about ham radio and wanted to join the explosion of growth in the hobby, this is the meeting for you.
The entry into amateur or ham radio has never been simpler. The equipment to operate has never been cheaper. Do you have 40 dollars? That will buy you a brand-new walkie talkie that will allow you to communicate across three counties. Silver has written scores of articles about the hobby in the major magazines dedicated to the interest.
Also featured will be a video using light to communicate. LED bulbs that are focused through a lens can actually send voices, data and video dozens of miles.
The meeting will be held Saturday March 12th at the Mabank Café on Hwy 198 in Mabank. The club meets the second Saturday of each month there. The meeting starts at 9 AM, but many come early for an impressive breakfast buffet. Anyone interested in technology is welcome.
