The April 8th CCARC Meeting
The Saturday April meeting of the Cedar Creek Amateur (ham) Radio Club is loaded with multiple story lines.
First there is the big question, I got my license, now what do I do? Club President William Moos, WM5MM informs us.
Charles Wells presents a video and explains how to spot severe and threatening weather.
Then there is the planning for Field Day 2017. That's the 24-hour contest of operating on emergency power and still communicating across the world. Dave Randall, K5YWT conducts.
In addition, there is talk of establishing a club station, new features of the 440 Mhz repeater and invitations to run for a club officer
position.
Would you like to qualify for a ham radio license in one day? The ham radio exam no longer requires a Morse code test. So if you've ever wanted to talk to the world or be there when all other forms of communications fail, this is the time to act
We offer a free class that teaches you in the morning and you take the test that afternoon. Almost 95% pass and many of them have never known anything about radio. Come join the fun!
Date: April 29th
Time: 8am with the test at 2pm
Cost: $10 for the FCC filing fee (no charge for the class itself).
Lunch: not provided but there will be time between the class and the test to go off site for lunch

The club meeting will be held Saturday April 11th at the Mabank Café on Hwy 198 in Mabank. The club meets the second Saturday of each month there. The meeting starts at 9 AM, but many come early for the breakfast buffet. Anyone interested in technology is welcome.
The Cedar Creek ARC has over forty members from the tri-county area. It maintains a VHF and UHF repeater system that provide hand-held radio coverage to hams in the lake area, and mobile and base coverage throughout the three counties. CCARC participates in the National Weather Service SKYWARN program and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service. The club also provides classes to those wishing to join the ranks of Amateur "ham" Radio.
