Hi folks sorry for the recent inactivity on the lake reports I've been working on remembering all the old fishing spots for a "full" Cedar creek lake! The lake is full and the water temperature ranges from the high 60's to the mid 70's. The water clarity is slightly stained to muddy heading north and the fish are biting.
The crappie made a huge push up the many running creeks when the floods came and a lot of fish spawned way up major creeks, however there are still more fish to hit the banks to spawn most likely in coves and around main lake rocks. Now we have fish coming out and fish moving up and they will start to stack up on brush and bridges as well as around rocks and deeper docks. With all this being said, the bite should be versitile and wide open! Minnows and jigs are always good and several jig colors are working.
The hybrids and Sandies are shallow early around main lake points and shorelines, you can catch them on fresh shad on bottom or on artificial baits like slabs and swim baits or even top waters at times. After the early bite dies go to the first major drop off near the points and slab or troll watching the graph closely.
The large mouth are in mid spawn as well, I've seen fish on beds guarding already hatched fry and I've seen fish full of eggs in 8 to 10' of water getting ready to spawn. You should be able to find fish in very shallow flooded grass in the back of spawning areas fishing frogs and weightless plastics as well as spinners and shallow cranks. You can also target rocks, docks and brush piles to find some good fish on wacky rigs, jigs, crank baits and tx rigs.
The catfish are on mainlake points throuout the lake early, get anchored a cast away from the bank and throw shad on a bottom rig or on a float up towards the shore for some good action. This lasts for a couple hours then you'll need to look deeper.
