Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for July 21, 2014

Hello fishing fans, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake... The lake is about 3.5' low and we need more of the rains that have teased us lately. The water temps. have been creeping towards the 90 degree mark and the clarity is still slightly stained. Overall fishing is good if you know where to look.

The crappie are sluggish for the most part but you can get into them if you know where to go. Try fishing under the bridges and fish them all the way across, you should find that there are a few fish hiding around each pillar no matter the depth. The fish should be suspended up off the bottom a little and jigs and minnows should produce...

Catfish are pretty easy, If you want blue cats just stay deep around mainlake humps and points or other deep structure and use fresh cut bait like shad, bream or drum on bottom and on a floating rig as you will find fish suspended and near bottom this time of year. You can also catch channelcat in shallow or deeper water with chum and punchbait, just bait a hole with dogfood, soured grain or range cubes and wait a while. The fish should come to the baited area fairly quick and when they smell the punchbait it's game on...

Largemouth are good around any deeper docks on small plastics and medium diving crankbaits. Focus on mainlake points and secondary point areas with deep water close to maximize you fishing time. You can also go offshore and fish nothing but deeper water 12 to 24' and stay near brushpiles, ridges, humps and sharp points. In these areas throw c-rigs, bigger jigs, deep crankbaits, swimbaits, spoons and tx rigged 10" worms and work hard to get the first bite, it will boost your confidence and get you tuned in for the next one...

Hybrids and sandies have been schooling briefly in the morning and late in the evenings in the dam area and on some of the mainlake hump areas. You should find them later in the day near the same areas just graph out on the edges a little further and search for them near the dropoffs. Try slabs, spoons, swimbaits and topwaters and mix in some deep trolling from time to time and you should get bit...

Thanks guys and gals for reading my report and sorry for the delay, I have been on vacation and I detatched from everything for a few days. As always if you would like to book a fishing trip give me a call... Thanks again Jason Barber 903-603-2047 or 903-887-7896

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 20)

EXCELLENT. Stained; 62 degrees; 0.08 feet below pool. The hybrid striped bass and white bass have recently been staging in the creek arms to spawn these past few weeks. Fish are now coming back into the main lake in droves to recover from the spawn and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The bite will continue to get even better in these areas as the shad spawn will start to take place in the next 2-3 weeks across the lake. Retrieve shiny slabs or spinnerbaits off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 17-26 feet of water. The crappie bite has picked up in the creeks and inlets in 2-10 feet of water throughout the entire lake. We are now seeing the crappie migrate back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 4-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days.
