Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for November 27, 2014

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake... The Lake level is at 5.92' low and the water temps are in the low 50's. The clarity is normal at slightly stained on the lower end and stained on the south. The fish are biting, providing that you know where to look.

For Largemouth, try under any dock with more than a couple feet of water on it, but fish more thuroughly on those with 5' or more. Jigs, spinners, cranks and finnesse plastics will all work. You can also slow roll a deep crank or heavy spinnerbait as well as drag soft plastics over brush and debris scattered on points, humps and dropoffs on the lower end of the lake in 8 to 24' and find some active fish. Start thinking slow for the presentation on all baits as the water temps drop.

Hybrids and sandies are deep and are feeding on small shad, You can catch them on a number of shad immitations from swimbaits to spoons and even crappie sized tackle. Get your boat in deep water and look for bait on your graph. Once you find activity anchor or drift if possible and send your baits straight down to the bottom. Raise your baits up 2 to 10 feet off bottom and hold it still. Change depths by lowering and raising the rod very slowly and you will provoke a strike now and then. Knocking on the bottom of the boat seems to attract the fish as well.

Crappie are moving deeper too, Try brushpiles in mainlake offshore locations with 17 to 25+ feet of water on it. Fish jigs and minnows very close to the brush and the bottom slowly for the best chance at finding biting fish. You may still find a few fish under the bridges as well just be ready to fish deeper than normal.

The catfish are fired up right now, either drift the mainlake in 15 to 40' of water or hit the shallows on the extreme north end of the lake. Be very careful its a stumpy place and there are hidden stumps that can ruin a trip! Fish 3 to 8' and stay near points and stump edges. Cut shad or rough fish are the best choices for bait.

Thanks again for reading my report and good luck with your fishing. If you would like to book a trip with me give me a call at 903-603-2047 and lets get you on some of the best fishing of the year.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 17)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.00 feet at pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the Dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The Hybrids and Whitebass have started schooling in water from 6-14 feet at the dam and any wind blown shallow point or seawall. Late evening schooling action is also happening in shallow coves and points throughout the lake. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinnerbaits and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 8-16 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service.
