Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake level is at 4.94" low and the water temps are starting to drop with the recent front. The current water temp is around 80 degrees give or take and the clarity is slightly stained to stained heading north.
Catfish are still biting in multiple depths, try drifting in 6 to 15' on the north end and anchor up on the edge of humps and points on the south fishing 10 to 20'. In both cases fresh cut gizzard shad is the best followed by fresh cut bream or drum then shrimp. Drift long stretches on the north end and move around every 30 minutes or so on the south end until you find active fish.
Crappie are still hanging around the brushpiles in 12 to 20' and under the bridges suspended around the concrete pillars. Jigs and minnows will catch equally as well just move around and keep looking for fresh holes untill you put a few nice fish in the boat. Some days jigs will out catch minnows and sometimes it's the other way around you just have to experiment.
Largemouth are feeding on shad and can be found shallower on mainlake points and shorelines throwing crankbaits and other shad immitations. Also fish plastics on dropshot, shaky head or Tx rigs around any docks or cover in 3 to 10' of water along the way. You can also target brush and debris in 8 to 20' of water with a carolina rig, dropshot, jig or Tx rig worm to get some bites. These areas should also be fished with other baits from time to time such as deep crankbaits, flutter spoons and swimbaits.
The hybrids and sandies are still feeding on shad and can be caught on standard stuff like slabs, swimbaits, trolling and spoons near humps, points and ridges in 10 to 20' from midlake south. There is still some schooling early and late from mid-lake south so keep an eye out for birds and surface activity.
