Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The Lake is at 5.14' low and falling and the water temps are in the high 70's to low 80's. The clarity is still good on the south end and a little more stained on the north.
The Crappie bite is beginning to pick up and fish are showing up in a little shallower water. Try brushpiles in 10 to 16' of water and also fish bridges and treetops. You can catch fish on jigs or minnows just try what you like and if that don't work try the other for a while. There should be some fish moving into the rocky areas near the dam and spillway as well, fish 8 to 20' until you find them.
Catfishing is still good, try free floating or stationary jugs but make sure you have baits up high in the water collumn. Some fish will take the bait only 1 to 2' under the surface even out in deeper water. You can also drift in 8 to 20' on the upper end of the lake and do well, or anchor on humps and points on the south end and fish 14 to 24'. Fresh cut shad is the best bait for the job.
Largemouth are still in multiple areas. You can elect to fish deeper humps and points with brush in 8 to 16' or you can run the bank and kind of focus on mainlake shorelines near points with deep water close to shallow water. When shallow fish shallow crankbaits spinnerbaits and small plastics on various rigs. When out deeper throw deep crankbaits and larger tx rigged plastics as well as some finnesse plastic methods like drop-shot or shaky heads. Don't rule out topwater right now either, the little cool down is all it takes to get the fish active on top.
Hybrids are sketchy, you can still find them schooling a little near the dam flats and the spillway humps on some mornings. After the early bite dies down try staying near the dropoffs and throwing swimbaits and flutter spoons as well as larger slab type baits. Focus on 14 to 25' and watch your graph constantly. As for the sandbass, they are stacking up a little shallower on points and hums, they will hit slabs on sunny days and trolling baits better on cloudy days, Stay in 9 to 14' and you should find them.
Thanks as always for reading and I hope the information is useful to all of you. I expect the fishing to really start getting good in the near future and would reccomend getting a date picked to get out on the lake with me to get in on the action. You can reach me at 903-603-2047 or 903-887-7896.
