The Kaufman County Clean-Up will be held May 15-16, and county residents with proof of residency will be able to deliver unwanted items for haul off at locations in all precincts.
Proof of residency can be established with drivers’ licenses, voter registration cards, water bills and other documents. County employees will help with unloading, but no cattle trailers or enclosed trailers will be allowed for transport.
At the Precinct 4 Eco-Station, 6520 Plainview Drive, in Kemp, residents can drop off trash, tires, batteries, automobile batteries and used oil. Televisions, computers, microwaves, barbed wire, bricks, concrete, rocks, roofing, shingles, latex paint, pesticides, household waste containers, boats, travel trailers, dead animals and brush will not be accepted in Kemp.
There will be a free electronics collection event at the South Campus parking lot in Kaufman at 3003 S. Washington, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. All consumer electronics, small household appliances, ink and laser cartridges and batteries of all types will be accepted.
The Kaufman County Commissioners Court approved the start of planning April 27 for the spring countywide clean-up.
The court approved advertising for bids to tree and branch removal, ditch-cleaning and mowing along all county roads in all four precincts. There will also be advertising for bids to seal coat all county roads.
Commissioners also approved bids from two waste removal services firms, Community Waste Disposal and Ferris Containers Service, for countywide clean-up.
