Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for August 1, 2015

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with another Cedar Creek Lake fishing and lake report for early August. The lake is about 8 inches low and the water temperature ranges from the high 80's to the mid 90's. The clarity ranges from slightly stained to stained heading north.

The catfish can be found in the main lake, fish 12 to 24' near humps and points with fresh shad or frozen shrimp. Jug lines are effective now as well, try fishing in 20 to 40' and putting your hooks from the top to 15' below the surface for best results.

The crappie are still under the bridges and in brushpiles in 12 to 24' as well, try Minnows and jigs and remember they will usually suspend 2 to 10' off bottom.

The sandbass and hybrids are on mainlake points and humps and can be caught on various baits from live shad to slabs and flutter spoons as well as swimbaits and trolling baits in 14 to 30'.

The large mouth are scattered, you can catch them on docks, rocks and offshore cover. Try cranks and plastics around the docks and Carolina rigs, jigs and deeper cranks for offshore.

Thanks again for your time and consideration, I'm available 7 days a week for guided fishing so please feel free to call 903 603 2047.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 17)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.00 feet at pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the Dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The Hybrids and Whitebass have started schooling in water from 6-14 feet at the dam and any wind blown shallow point or seawall. Late evening schooling action is also happening in shallow coves and points throughout the lake. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinnerbaits and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 8-16 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service.
