Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for February 3, 2016

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake level is at normal pool and the water temperature is in the low to mid 50's with the clarity ranging from slightly stained to very stained heading north.

The crappie are pretty slow but should be staging to move towards the spawning areas soon. Check brush in 16 to 24' as well as creeks and deep docks. Jigs and minnows are both good choices for bait.

Large mouth are also starting to show up close to spawning areas around rocks and docks, they can be caught on several baits. Spinner baits, chatter baits, jigs and crank baits are good choices for shallow water. For deeper areas 10 to 20' try drop shots and Carolina rigs.

Hybrids and sandbass are on mainlake bait and can be caught deadsticking plastic shad imitations in 25 to 50' of water. The next rain that gets the creeks running should pull some fish to the major creeks.

Catfish are good shallow and deep, try drifting in 12 to 40' on mainlake areas and anchoring shallow on the north end. Fresh shad is the best bait.

Thanks for taking the time to read this report and call anytime for tips or to book a trip. 903-603-2047

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 17)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.00 feet at pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the Dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The Hybrids and Whitebass have started schooling in water from 6-14 feet at the dam and any wind blown shallow point or seawall. Late evening schooling action is also happening in shallow coves and points throughout the lake. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinnerbaits and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 8-16 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service.
