Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for June 1, 2016

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake level is at normal pool and the water temperature is in the mid to high 70's. The clarity ranges from slightly stained to muddy heading north.

The crappie are still on the deeper docks and are starting to get on brush piles and bridges. Fish docks with 6' deep water or more on them and target brush in 12 to 20'.
Jigs and minnows are both good choices for bait.

Large mouth are on docks as well and will hit plastics and crank baits, you can also use top waters early and late. Rocks are holding fish and some offshore structure is turning on crank baits and plastics are still good there in 5 to 16'.

Catfish are slowing down in the shallows but can still be caught early on retaining wall points and shorelines with fresh shad. Try moving out to 12 to 25' water and bottom fishing with shad and you can find fish on humps and points.

Sandies and hybrids are schooling early on humps and points and can be caught on slabs, swim baits and top waters. As the sun comes up focus on water 8 to 16' and fish near the bottom.

Thanks again for reading my report and call me anytime to book a trip. 903-603-2047

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 27)

EXCELLENT. Stained; 64 degrees; 0.21 feet above pool. The hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The bite will continue to get even better in these areas as the shad spawn will start to take place in the next 2-3 weeks across the lake. Slowly retrieve shiny slabs or spinnerbaits off the bottom to catch these fish in depths of 17-26 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days.
