Hi fishing fans, Jason Barber here with the www.Kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water clarity is slightly stained to muddy heading north and the water temperature ranges from the low to high 70's. The lake is full and the fish are biting!
The crappie are pretty steady around deep docks, brushpiles and around the bridges, jigs of any kind in various colors will work. Try to stay deeper than 6' for best results on the dock pattern and 10 to 24' with the bridge or brushpiles.
Catfish can be found on the north end in shallow water from 2 to 8' and Will bite best on fresh shad or other cut bait as well as shrimp or night crawlers. For the south end stay near points and humps and fish from the shore all the way out to 40+ feet of water with the same baits.
Hybrids and Sandies are schooling early and late near the dam and the key ranch flats as well as around the humps throughout the mid to Southlake regions. You can catch on topwaters when the fish surface and slabs, swimbaits and trolled diving baits near the humps in 10 to 30+ ft.
The large mouth are still holding in the flooded willows and weeds in 1 to 6' and are starting to migrate towards deeper water stopping on docks, brushpiles and other offshore cover. For the shallow fish just powerfish with moving baits including topwaters, spinners and shallow cranks but take time to flip jigs and soft plastics into deeper willows and weed patches especially on sunny days. As another angle, try c-rigs, crank baits drop shots and shaky heads around docks and points as well as brush and rock.
Thanks and have a great time on the water! For booking information give me a call at 903-603-2047 or 903-887-7896
