Hey guys and gals, Jason Barber here with the www.Kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at normal pool and the temperature is in the high 50's to the low 60's. The water clarity is stained to muddy heading north as usual.
The large mouth are ready to spawn and alot of fish have already moved way back into the creeks and coves throughout the lake. Cover water with spinner baits and chatter baits but be sure to slow down and fish the best stretches with a light tx rig or jig as well as flukes and senko type baits. Don't hesitate to try buzz baits and frogs around shorelines with alot of visible weeds as the first topwater bites of the season can be good ones.
The crappie are also moving shallow, some very shallow fish have already showed up especially on the north end of the lake and more are coming for sure. There are also fish in the marinas and deeper boat docks especially those that have brushpiles present. As always Minnows and jigs are both good baits.
The catfish are good in shallow water on the north end in 2 to 10' of water and can also be caught throughout the lake drifting in 12 to 30. Fresh shad or other cut rough fish is the best bait for the job. Smaller cats especially channel cat are good on worms, liver and shrimp.
Hybrids and Sandies are already in the creeks and should be spawning for the next 60 days. Small jigs and swim baits bounced along the bottom are good choices for baits. Mainlake points are holding some fish as well with the same baits bounced along the bottom as well as small crank baits fished around the retaining walls and docks right around the points.
