Henderson County Judge Richard Sanderson recently announced he would not seek a third term after his second four- year term ends Dec. 31, 2018.

Kaufman County Judge Bruce Wood made a similar announcement earlier in the summer. He also will be completing two terms when he retires.

Filing for political party primaries begin in November 2017. Both Sanders and Wood ran as Republicans.

The position of county judge held by the two men are administrative positions overseeing commissioners court meetings and managing county business.
