George Prescott Bush, the descendant of two U.S. presidents, will play in the Cedar Creek Veterans Foundation Golf Classic May 6 at the Pinnacle Golf Club.
Bush, who is the grandson of George P. Bush and nephew of George W. Bush, is a decorated Navy veteran who served a tour of duty in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
The younger Bush is a Fort Worth attorney whose mother is from Mexico. His father is former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. He is considered a rising political star among conservative Hispanics.
The tournament will benefit the Navy and Marine Corp. Relief Society, the Dallas Fisher House and Hope for the Warriors.Three spots on Bush's golf team are being auctioned to the highest bidders to raise money for the charity.
The foundation also stages "Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake" air show and fireworks display on July 4 annually to benefit the charities.
The tournament, which includes a lunch, will honor East Texas World War II veterans Corp. Terry Massey, USMC, who spent 36 days on Iwo Jima, Master Chief Petty Officer Garrett O. Smith, USN, and Lt. James D. Ragsdale, USN.
