Once a year, ham radio operators "take to the field" for a 24 hour off-the-grid operating event and you're invited!
Amateur Radio "Field Day" weekend is a worldwide event where hams test their operating skills in an emergency exercise that is also a fun event. Last year, over 45,000 hams participated.
This year, the Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club will be operating Field Day from a the lot adjacent to Brookshire's in Mabank. For 24 hours (from 1 PM Saturday until 1 PM Sunday), lake area hams will compete with other groups around the US to contact as many other stations as they can, using emergency power and temporary antennas.
This event is open to the public. Come by and learn more about ham radio, and see what a radio and a wire can do!
