Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake is at .15 in. high and falling and will be at normal pool soon.... "MAN THAT FELT GOOD TO SAY!!!" The water is stained to muddy and in the mid 60's. The fish are biting great, the spawn is underway and the fish are shallow.
Crappie are in the shallows and can be found in creeks, coves and some on the main lake. Try fishing in 1 to 3 ft. of water around the flooded vegetation and constantly look for any debris in the shallows and fish in and around it. Jigs and minnows are both effective at times.
The largemouth are right with the crappie hanging out in the newly flooded brush as well as on shallow boathouses in small coves and pockets. Try flipping a soft plastic on a light tx rig and throw spinner and buzzbaits around anything in the water in the 1 to 5 ft. range. Square billed crankbaits and weightless flukes and senko type baits are also good.
The catfish are in the areas near the mouths of the creeks. The recent rains caused great runnoff and flooded these areas with fish. Try fresh shad, worms and shrimp for some nice 1 to 5 lb bluecats. 1 to 6 ft. has been good water for me.
The hybrids and sandies are in these areas as well coming in and out of the creeks for their annual spawn. Some fish can be caught on mainlake and secondary points as well. Try live shad and perch on c-rigs with a small but strong hook through the nose in 1 to 8 ft. cut shad, whole dead shad and artificials will work too. The shad spawn is here and the fishing will be really hot for the next few weeks.
Try to get on the water for some great action or just book a trip with us and let us do all the work for ya! Come see us or give us a call at Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle at Big Cheif Landing in Gunbarrel City. 903-887-7482 or 903-603-2047 Til' next week thanks and good fishing...jb
