Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for 9/17/2011

I started my career as a professional Bass fisherman in 2000 and claimed my 1st B.A.S.S. victory on the famous Sam Rayburn reservoir in 2002 and finished 3rd place in my first B.A.S.S. Tour event in Florida in 2002. I am currently a full-time fishing guide and offer my services on Cedar Creek Lake and surrounding lakes.
We are at 6.61 ft low to date and the water temps are in the 70's. The clarity is about as good as it gets on Cedar creek at lightly stained. The fishing is good despite the low water levels and drought conditions.
The crappie remain in deeper water but are starting to favor a little shallower depths in the 10 to 20' range on brushpiles and bridge pillings. Jigs and minnows will both work, try tipping the jigs with berkley crappie nibbles. The catfish are starting to move shallower as well especially at night and early in the mornings.
Try drifting in 12 to 25' of water with fresh shad or shrimp for best results. Anchoring on humps and points will produce as well. Sandbass and hybrids should be targeted around mainlake humps and points in 14 to 28' of water trolling is good with fish also coming on slabs, spoons and swimbaits near bottom. Pay close attention to your electronics watching for bait and fish relating to the bottom as these fish are more actively feeding.
The largemouth bite is spread from shallow to deep with fish holding on any docks that have 1 to 4' of water on them, shallow rocks and brush, and deeper structure such as points, humps and ridges in 8 to 16'. Try soft plastics on carolina rigs for the deeper structure and tx rigged plastics and crankbaits for the rocks and docks.
