Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the kingscreekadventurers.com weekly fishing report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at 2.85 low and the water temps are in the 40's. The clarity is slightly stained on the south end and stained on the north end.
The crappie are fair on jigs and minnows in brushpiles on the main lake. Stay in water 16 to 30' and fish super slow for best results. You can also try the dam, changing depth is easy there. When you find the right depth the fish should cooperate.
The sandies and hybrids are on the deep bite. Try swimbaits, sassy shad, spoons and bucktails in 20 to 40' of water and try to move your bait as little as possible as everything is lathargic right now, this will help the lure look more natural. Make sure you are marking lots of bait on your graph then anchor off and fish a while, if nothing happens move and try again.
The largemouth can still be caught around the docks on jigs and shaky heads as well as slow rolling spinner and crankbaits. Just remember to fish slow and don't expect a ton of bites.
The catfish are still doing their winter thing, which is deep drifting the south end in 18 to 40' and anchoring on the north end in 2 to 10'. Fresh cut bait is a must and you will get bit.
Thanks again and please feel free to call me to book a fishing or duck hunting trip 903-603-2047... We are still at the bait shop at Big Chief Landing. The property is up for auction in February but we hope to have our exhisting lease in place and continue business as usual.
