Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com lake and fishing report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake level is at 3.57' low and the water temps are still in the 40's. The clarity ranges from slightly stained on the south end to very stained on the north end.
Catfishing is at a high point with lots of big fish biting throughout the lake. You can either drift 20' to 40' water on the lower end of the lake or fish anchored in 2' to 10' on the upper end. Fresh cut shad or nongame fish is best with either application.
Hybrids and Sandbass can be found on the mainlake in 30' to 50' of water following schools of shad. Focus on the mid to south areas of the lake and look for fish deep on the electronics. Once you start seeing lots of bait and fish anchor or drift over them and drop small shad imitating plastics on a jighead or just use small swimbait type lures to get them to bite. Most of the time the best action is 5' to 10' up off the bottom and bumping the bottom of the boat continuously definitely increases the action.
Crappie are starting to show up closer to the spawning areas on the upper end of the lake but most fish are in deep water and should be searched for on the main lake in the 30' to 50' range. Jigs and minnows will both work, just remember to fish slow and you stand a better chance of finding them.
The largemouth bite is slow but you can catch fish if you are persistent. Try Jigs and plastics near the rocks and docks in 3' to 10' of water and fish very slow. You can pick up a fish or two on a crankbait or spinnerbait at times but the slow baits are the best bet overall.
I have boats in the water and I would love the opportunity to take you out on the lake to show you what Cedar Creek Lake has to offer. You can contact me @ 903-603-2047 or on my website. Thanks as always for reading my report and I hope to hear from some of you in the days to come.
