Hello again fishing fans, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake... The lake level is about 3.3' low and rising as it's raining right now! The Water temps should be in the mid 70's to low 80's after this fresh water is added to the mix. The clarity will probably diminish a bit but it should not be too bad overall.
The crappie are really holding tight to the brushpiles in 12' to 24' of water right now. The bridges along the 334 and 198 highways are holding good numbers of fish as well and are a good place to beat the heat in the mid day hours. Jigs of almost any color and minnows will catch fish just experiment with your depth and presentation until you get bit and duplicate.
Catfish are moving deeper as more and more fish spawn. There are still lots of channel cat shallow, punchbait and nightcrawlers will catch these spawning fish. If you want blues go deeper and more mainlake, try around the humps and points in 15 to 30' of water near a dropoff. Fresh cut shad, bream or drum is always good, shrimp is also a good choice if cutbait is not available..
Largemouth are good around the boat docks using crank baits and soft plastics rigged various ways. You can also get on an offshore bite right now. Focus on the humps, points and ridges with some cover on them, fish as shallow as 8-10' and as deep as 20-24'. Use carolina rigged plastics, drop-shots and football jigs in various colors and mix in a deep diving crankbait here and there for a search bait.
The hybrids and sandies are stacked on the humps and points in 12' to 30' of water. You should constantly watch your electronics and make adjustments as they move in and out to feed. You can get bit on slabs, spoons and swimbaits as well as live shad. Trolling deep divers is another way to put some fish in the box, you just have to fish what you like and keep at it until you find them biting.
