Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the http://www.kingscreekadventures.com/ fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at -3.42 low and rising for a change. The recent rains have stained up the water a little, but not too bad. The water temps are in the 70 degree range give or take depending on the weather.
Catfish are easy right now. You can pretty much catch them on any mainlake point with some wind on it. Try fresh shad, shrimp or cut bait for the bluecat and punchbait or worms for the channel cat. Fish shallow early and move out deeper as the sun gets up.
Crappie are in the final stages of the spawn, most fish are done but not all of them. You will still find a few as shallow as 1 to 2 feet of water but more fish are starting to lock in to the post spawn patterns. Brushpiles, deep rocks, deep docks and bridges are the best locations to put your time into now. Jigs and minnows will both work and colors that work are black/chart, smoke, pearl, pink ect...just experiment.
The largemouth are spread out big time. You will find fish still on beds, fish on mainlake points and everywhere in between. Try shallow crankbaits, topwaters and plastics rigged various ways. Fish evrything in 2 to 10' of water and move along pretty fast until you find them then try to duplicate what works.
Sandies and hybrids are going good early on mainlake points. The wind will help activate them so fish the windy side of the points. Also look for bird activity, there are a few schooling fish starting to show up. Try fresh dead or live shad on bottom as well as slabs and swimbaits in 2 to 10' early then move out and look for the fish on your graph later in the day.
Thanks to all of you who look at my report on a regular basis. Please try to book a fishing trip for your friends or family soon. You can reach me at 903-603-2047
