Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for May 3, 2013

Hi fishing fans, Jason Barber here with the weekly kingscreekadventures.com/ fishing report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at 3.18' low and the water temps are in the high 60's to low 70's. The clarity is slightly stained to very stained heading north. Crappie are still in all stages of the spawn with most fish spawning or in post spawn, there are still a few getting ready to spawn. This means you can find them at several depths ranging from 2' to 20' deep. Minnows are working really well but lots of fish are being caught on jigs as well. Look near spawning coves and around deeper rocks such as the dam and spillway as well as bridge rocks and the bridge pillars themselves. Catfish are still hanging out on windy shorelines and points, as well as on top of the humps. Fresh shad, shrimp and live bait are good. Fish in water 1' to 10' and don't sit in one place too long. If they are not biting change areas until you get bit pretty quickly. You can find fish from one end of the lake to the other. You can catch lots of channel cat around the deeper rock also. Try different punchbaits under a float in 2' to 6' of water. The Hybrids and Sandies are really feeding heavily, with early and late schooling activity likely. Fish any of the mainlake points and on top of the humps. Try live and dead shad, slabs, swimbaits, spoons and crankbaits and last but not least topwater baits. There will be fish in as little as 2' and as much as 16' of water throughout the day.You can also catch alot of fish at night around the many docklights. Try light tackle for some fun fishing. The Largemouth are almost finished spawning and are feeding as well. Try crankbaits, spinnerbaits and topwaters in spawning areas and around secondary and mainlake points in 1' to 5' of water early. Tx. and Carolina rigged soft plastics are good throughout the day in the same areas. Rocks are a safe bet for finding fish so don't rule them out. stay with light weight on your bottom baits to reduce hanging up. Come see us at the baitshop in Seven Points, a half mile south of the ligh towards Tool. Fishing is great and we run a full time guideservice fishing for several species on Cedar Creek Lake and would love the opportunity to show you a good time on the water.
