Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for October 6, 2014

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at 5.44' low and the surface temps are in the high 70's to low 80's. The clarity is slightly stained to stained and the fishing is starting to improve.

The crappie are turning back on and can be found around brushpiles in 12 to 20' of water on jigs and minnows. The bridges are holiding fish as well around the concrete posts in 8 to 16'.

Largemouth are on the move and can be found everywhere. Try mainlake docks and points but don't be affraid to move on back into the coves a little and work anything you see in 1 to 5' of water. Throw buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and shallow crankbaits as well as small plastics and you should get bit. The offshore bite is still good too, try brush in 8 to 16' of water with c-rigs, deep cranks and other common open water baits.

Hybrids and sandies are seperating a little and the sandies are getting shallow. Try in 8 to 16' for the sandies near mailake points and humps and fish a little deeper for the Hybrids. Slabs, spoons and swimbaits are good as well as trolling rigs. Watch for surfacing fish early and late and try topwater baits for some exciting action.

The Catfish are getting going as well, Try drifting fresh cut shad on the upper half of the lake in 8 to 14' and in 12 to 24' on the lower half. You can also anchor on humps and points on the lower end and around treelines and points on the upper end.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.40 feet above pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The Hybrids and Whitebass have started schooling in water from 6-14 feet at the dam and any wind blown shallow point or seawall. Late evening schooling action is also happening in shallow coves and points throughout the lake. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinnerbaits and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 8-16 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service.
