An attic water heater bursting Jan 16 caused the flooding of Gun Barrel City Hall over the Martin Luther King Holiday that left ankle-deep water throughout the building.
The flood destroyed computers, files and phone systems. A restoration company removed the contents of the building for disposal or storage until the building is repaired.
City officials estimated the amount of water released from the heater to be 7,000 gallons. The reason for the heater failure is yet to be determined.
Phone service was restored to City Hall, and business is being conducted while repairs take place.
