CedarCreekLake.com's Facebook fan base recently passed the 12,000-member mark, helping make it the apparent leading website for all things about the lake area. The website provides editorial content and advertising related to Cedar Creek Lake real estate, vacation rentals, campgrounds, marinas, news, entertainment, weather and lake levels. "Our traffic has grown steadily each year," said Cassidy Lackey, publisher of the website he launched Oct. 1, 2008. "Visits are up over 150 percent from 2011 to 2012, and we now serve roughly 25,000 visits each month during the peak months." More than 80 percent of the traffic originates from outside the Cedar Creek Lake area, said Lackey, who is pictured above at a recent ribbon cutting for the website at a meeting of the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at the Cedar Creek Lake Country Club. Visitors from Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Houston and San Antonio make the most use of the website publication, which recently joined the area chamber, he said. "Clearly, we have a ton of weekenders and visitors that check our site regularly for news, events, weather and lake level information," Lackey said. One of the reasons for the website's popularity is the affordability of its advertising, Lackey noted. "Our advertising, starting at only $25 per month is a perfect opportunity for Cedar Creek Lake businesses to reach tens of thousands of residents, weekenders and visitors," Lackey said. Lackey, a Dallas-Fort Worth residents who owns lake property, said his idea for CedarCreekLake.com came while he was looking for a lakehouse. "I realized there wasn't great information about the lake on the Internet so started working on CedarCreekLake.com with a development partner," Lackey said. He now also publishes websites devoted to Lake Fork, Lake Palestine, Lake Sam Rayburn, Lake Texhoma and Possum Kingdom Lake.
