The Cedar Creek Lake Chamber of Commerce honored longtime member James D. Ragsdale with a Lifetime Service Award at its recent awards banquet at the Cedar Creek Country Club.
Ragsdale, who joined the chamber in 2002, also serves on the Henderson County Board of Realtors, and he is the author of a book about his life. The biography, "Are You Coming or Going?" also provides history about Cedar Creek Lake.
The 101-page book, which is available through Amazon.com, is described as a "historical, spiritualized, candid look at over eighty years of a life well-lived." The book begins and ends in part with the words, "As God's children we go nowhere by accident. Wherever we go, God is sending us."
Ragsdale recently donated six lots he owns in central Mabank to the city for development however it chooses to benefit the community.
In addition to Ragsdale's award, the chamber honored Tate Cramm of Prosperity Bank as "Citizen of the Year" and Becky Hepker of Southside Bank as "Ambassador of the Year." Robbye Grisson was named to the "President's Hall of Fame."
