KAUFMAN -- The reward for information leading to the indictment and conviction of the murderers of two Kaufman County officials is now $230,000.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry offered $100,000 from his office during a press conference April 4, matching the reward amount already pledged by Crime Stoppers. An anonymous citizen has pledged another $30,000.
Perry vowed the state's law enforcement agencies would bring the killers to justice.
"We will not let this cower us," Perry said as he stood with representatives from the FBI, Texas Rangers, Kaufman Police Department and the Kaufman Sheriff.
"Texas is a law-and-order state and we will track down and punish those who have committed this crime," Perry said.
The press conference was held at the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center the morning before a memorial service for slain Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, 63, and his wife, Cynthia, 65, who was a psychiatric nurse. They were shot and killed in their home near Forney on March 31.
McLelland's chief prosecutor Mark Hasse, 57, was shot and killed in a courthouse parking lot Jan. 31.
Anyone with information should call Kaufman County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-TIPSKCC (1-877-847-7522).
