MABANK -- The Monitor newspaper distributed a free 112-page Cedar Creek Lake newcomer guide in its Sunday, June 24 issue. The newspaper, which is owned by Media One, LLC, also is making the Summer 2012 guide available at its office in Mabank and at other public venues such as City Hall. The guide includes a history of the man-made lake's construction in 1964 as a water reservoir for Tarrant County and an overview of the Cedar Creek Lake community. Just about everything a newcomer needs to know is outlined in the publication, including information about the various lake cities, educational programs, libraries, sports, entertainment, clubs, annual celebrations, area history, parks, natural resources and local businesses.
