MABANK -- One of the most precious assets of the Tri-County Library is its genealogy library, and the Root Seekers Genealogical Society will showcase it in a workshop Saturday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. "They have a wonderful library, and they work very hard," said Claire Stout, library director, of the genealogical society. "These people are so dedicated." The workshop on Oct. 6 is designed to introduce newcomers to genealogical research and to assist others who have already started tracing their family trees. Topics presented during the workshop will include getting started, using Census records, library research, use of Heritage Quest, county courthouse research and other resources. Participants will receive packets of information to assist them in future research. They will also be introduced to the Tri-County genealogy library for future use of it. There will be snacks during morning and afternoon breaks, and there will be a break for lunch. Participants are invited to bring a sack lunch or to visit one of the town's eateries. The library offers Wi-fi service for laptop and i-Pad use. Root Seekers meets on the third Monday of each month, except December, at the library at 7 p.m. Volunteers also are on hand every Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to noon to help with genealogical research.
