Hi folks, JasonBarber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake level is at 1.07' low but rising with the recent rainfall and the surface temperature has dropped from the low 90's to the low 80's.
The crappie are pretty much hanging out in deeper water near brush or bridges and can be caught on jigs and minnows. Remember that the crappie suspend a lot so try different depths and you should find fish.
Hybrids and sandbass are on mainlake points and humps and can be caught trolling or bottom fishing. Trolling hell- pets or standard deep diving crank baits is a good way to cover water and locate fish, once you find them try slabs and swim baits for a different look.
The catfish are scattered throughout the lake and can be caught on fresh shad or shrimp. Try anchoring on mainlake humps and points in 16 to 24' and bottom fishing or just drift randomly in 12 to 30' making long passes until you get bit.
Large mouth are scattered as well and can be caught on top water baits early and late as well as crank baits and plastics around the docks. You can also fish offshore in 10 to 20' looking for bottom structure and cover near points, humps and ridges throwing deep cranks and c-rigs.
