Hey there, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The lake level is at normal pool and the water temperature is in the mid 70's with the water clarity stained to muddy heading north.
The crappie are pretty much done spawning and have really moved into the boat docks. It takes some practice and patience but shooting, casting or pitching 1/16th to 1/8th Oz. Jigs under the shadiest parts of the dock is a very fun and effective way to get bit. A few fish have moved out to the brush piles and bridges as well.
Large mouth are scattered throughout the shallows throughout the lake and can be caught different ways. Try buzzbaits, frogs, spinner baits and plastics around all shoreline grass, rocks or bushes and you should find fish. Mainlake as well as inside the coves can be good right now but start moving out to docks and debris in 5 to 16' of water to find fish that are moving out from the spawning.
Catfish can be caught shallow throughout the lake early especially fresh shad is a good choice for rod and reel fishing but other baits will work. Channel cats are good 2 to10' deep throughout the lake on punch bait and other smelly baits.
Hybrids and sandbass are working bait early and will surface some days, start looking on mainlake points and flats that have deep water close to shallow. They having top waters, slabs and swim baits ready at all times, some days any one can work best. When not on top these fish will hold on dropouts or suspend in deeper water you just have to use your graph and figure them out.
Thanks everyone for reading my report and call anytime for tips or to book a trip with me.
