The Tarrant Regional Water District lifted its Stage One Drought Restrictions for Cedar Creek Lake and the other three lakes it regulates, Richland Chambers Reservoir, Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Bridgeport.
Stage One was implemented in 2013 TRWD's reservoirs fell below 75 percent capacity, limiting outdoor watering to twice per week. The recent heavy rains have raised the reservoirs to over 95 percent.
TRWD recommends continued conservation measures to prepare for the future.
Extreme drought has been eased statewide for the first time since July 2012. The latest Texas Drought Report reveals that 12 of the 14 reservoirs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are full.
Changing El Nino patters are credited for the cooler temperatures and heavy rains seen in Texas recently.
In the recent TRWD election on May 9, longtime board members being challenged for their seats prevailed.
The election results were Jim Lane 17,357 34%, Martha "Marty" Leonard 17,110 33%, Michele Von Luckner 7,650 15%, Craig Bickley 7,076 14% and Keith K. Annis 2,429 5%.
The election marked the heaviest voter turnout and most heatedly fought campaigns for board seats in the district's history.
