Local Artists Present Art Show

LOCAL ARTISTS PRESENT SHOW IN STAR HARBOR

Nestled in the lakeside community of Star Harbor, artistic creativity is flourishing through the efforts of the Star Harbor Watercolor Society. This organization numbering almost thirty members was founded in 2005 to improve the painting skills of its members and to stimulate public interest in watercolor art through exhibits. Society members have entered the annual Henderson County Art Show held each April in Athens and have won ribbons including Best of Show for their work each year. The art scene in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area has become familiar with this group of artists through their winning entries in the State Fair of Texas in Dallas—many blue ribbons and a Best of Show—as well as juried pieces in multiple prestigious art shows. Examples of members’ artwork can be viewed at the society’s website www.starharborws.org.

The Society is pleased to announce the fourteenth annual For the Love of Art show and sale to be held Sunday, February 16th from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Star Harbor City Hall building, 99 Sunset Blvd., in Star Harbor which is located just north of Malakoff (turn onto FM3062 at the Malakoff Fire State on TX Highway 198, continue past the high school 1.4 miles into Star Harbor, go left at the Y, building is the right at the golf course). Well over 100 original watercolor paintings will be displayed. This free event includes delicious refreshments, live music, painting demonstrations, and the opportunity to meet

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jun. 25)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 83 degrees; 0.00 feet above pool. Big numbers of white bass and several trophy-class hybrid stripers have hit the deck. We are consistently finding the best action in 15–22 feet of water. Good go-to setups include a variety of slabs, sometimes paired with 2–3 jigs above, and the always-reliable yellow bladed jig using the proven saw tooth retrieve technique. Trolling spoons at 3 mph in 13–17 feet of water absolutely crushed the white bass. Water temperatures are currently holding around 83 degrees and will continue to rise as summer heats up over the next couple of weeks. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Catfish remain consistent targeting humps in 10-20 feet of water, but there are a lot of small fish. Bigger fish can be caught drifting cut shad, carp, drum or bream. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
