Many visitors come to the Cedar Creek Lake area each year. The lake area offers many opportunities for family fun. People come to fish, spend time on the lake, do water sports, and other recreational pursuits.

Gun Barrel City Destination

One favorite family destination is Gun Barrel City. Gun Barrel City is located in Texas near Cedar Creek Lake. In 1969, the city population was around sixty residents. The area proliferated during the development phase. In 2000, the community grew to over two-thousand people. Gun Barrel City has received many awards throughout the development process – including several State Honor Awards.

Gun Barrel City Festivals

Heart of Cedar Creek Lake

Gun Barrel City is recognized as the “Heart of Cedar Creek Lake.” Although the city is still considered young in development, it continues to grow and expand, complimenting the lake area.

This “upscale water sports playground” also offers many places to shop, eat, and enjoy. This includes taking time to shop at the local Lowe’s store or Walmart. Enjoy delicious food at Chili’s, CiCi’s Pizza, or Denny’s.

Enjoy a family movie at the Moviestar Cinema while visiting Gun Barrel City. And, adults enjoy taking time to play bingo games at Golden Belle Bingo. The city includes places to stay, such as the LaQuinta hotel.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 24)

EXCELLENT. Water slightly stained; 77 degrees; 1.71 feet below pool. Consistently finding the best hybrid action in 13-18 feet of water with slabs, and spinnerbaits using the proven saw tooth retrieve technique. Trolling spoons with a hellbender set-up at 3 mph in 13-17 feet of water is absolutely crushing the white bass on several humps throughout the lake. As water temperatures decrease into the low 70s we will target big hybrids on shallow ledges and humps with Alabama rigs. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck's Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. The catfish pattern will remain consistent until cooler weather arrives. Catfish are good anchoring on humps in 12-24 feet fishing small shad or cut shad on the bottom.
