June X, 2016 (Northbrook, IL) - If you hear motors revving, see sod slinging then it's time for the annual Lone Star Mower Racing Association's (LSMRA) STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series. From June 11-12, 2016 residents of Gun Barrel City, TX will have the opportunity to witness Texas Turf Titans and Sod Slingers from far and wide going head to head on the track.
Racers from the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA), will congregate and compete for bragging rights and trophies on a tenth mile track at 298 Municipal Drive, Gun Barrel City, TX. Racing starts at 4 pm on Saturday, June 11 and 3 pm on Sunday, June 12. Admission is free for adults and children.
"We're going to tear up the turf in Texas," said Gun Barrel City resident and LSMRA President, Mike Howell, also known as Mr. Mowyagi. "The Gun Barrel track is one of the LSMRA's favorite venues and we can't wait to show it off to our racing friends from across the country. We thank the City of Gun Barrel for hosting this event and we're looking forward to a great weekend of 'America's Fastest Mowing Sport'!"

Racers and national staff from Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Carolina will be on site to rock and mow. The race will feature cookouts and family fun along with fundraisers to support charities, including Toys for Tots.
The Gun Barrel City race is estimated to draw more than 500 spectators to the Cedar Creek Reservoir area. The town acquired its name when farmers first settled in 1969, they noted that the road through the town looked "straight as a gun barrel."

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2017, The USLMRA is the nation's oldest and largest lawn mower racing sanctioning body. The USLMRA sanctions a network of 50 Local Chapters and Affiliated Clubs and presents more than 250 organized lawn mower races across America each year, including the 18-race STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series.
