Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar creek lake. The lake level is at 3.06' low and the water temps are in the 80's. The recent rains have dirtied the water up a little but the lower end is not too bad. Fishing is good throughout the lake.
The crappie are good around mainlake brushpiles in 12 to 24' of water and on the bridges. Minnows and jigs will work but one may out perform the other on any given day. Start near the bottom and work your way up as much as 5' off the bottom until you find where they want it. Jig color dose not matter too much if they are biting just experiment.
The catfish are still spawning but the deep bite is picking up well. Try fishing deep in 15 to 30' with fresh shad or shrimp and stay near a main lake hump or point for best action. You can also stay with the shallow fish near the rocks at the dam or spillway as well as the bridge rocks. Fish with punchbait under a float in 3 to 8' of water. Chumming hepls but it's not a must, just fish an area for 30 minutes of so and give the fish time to find you.
The sandies and hybrids are on mainlake points and humps. Try searching in 12 to 30' of water and use slabs, spoons and swimbaits. Trolling is another good option, stay in 15 to 30' with deep divers and you should get some action. The scooling activity has died down but you may see them come up on any morning or evening so be prepared.
Largemouth are still scattered but they are starting to lock into a summertime pattern. You can catch fish shallow in 1 to 10' around points and docks with crankbaits, topwaters and plastics or you can fish deep around the humps and points in 8 to 24' with plastics, jigs and deep divers where the potential for a big fish increases.
