Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar creek lake. The water level is at 3.61' low and the water temps are in the low 50's. The water clarity is slightly stained to very stained from south to north.. The fishing is good but things are starting to change over from winter to spring.
The catfish are biting good on Shad, worms and shrimp. Stay with the upper end of the lake for shallow fishing and fish points. Focus on water 2' to 8' deep and fish on the bottom. On the south end fish a little deeper 5' to 25' on bottom.
Crappie are moving in rapidly. You should explore daily. There are fish being caught way up into the creeks in 1' water and fish beinc caught in the marinas in 2 to10'. Don't rule out the brushpiles in 10'-20' because staging fish will move in and out to these areas as well. You could find fish in all places. Minnows and jigs will work. You should pay close attention to the shallow bite in the next few days as we are on a full moon.
The largemouth are right in line with the crappie, they want in the shallows bad!. There are fish moving in daily. Try running into spawning areas such as coves, creeks and pockets. Fish all avaiable cover in 1' to 6' of water with spinners, bladed jigs, soft plastics and crankbaits. Every day is different so alternate between baits until you get bit and go from there. Don't overlook the rip-rap areas, alot of fish spawn there as well.
There are alot of hybrids and sandies in the creek and staged up at the mouth areas of the creeks. You can target these fish with small plastics on jigheads or small crankbaits and swimbaits. Fish points or dropoffs near the creeks on the lakesidse and fish the bends inside the creeks if you have a small boat to get into the low water creeks.
