Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for November 8, 2014

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the kingscreekadventures, com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake... The lake level is at 5.59' low and the water temps are in the mid 60's. The water clarity is slightly stained to stained from south to north and the fishing is getting good.

The White bass and Hybrids are probably the most tricky fish to catch right now. You can start by getting on the normal points and humps and staying close to a drop off. Keep your boat in 10 to 16' and watch your graph, the fish are moving in and out and you just have to locate them then you can catch a few. Slabs, swimbaits and trolling baits are all good at times. Don't be afraid to go in shallow and throw Rat-l-traps and crankbaits at mainlake points and shorelines as some fish will go shallow to feed this time of year. Once you find them you can catch them on the other baits as well.

Largemouth are on any docks with 2 or more feet of water on them and on any rocks you can find with water on them. Throw spinnerbaits, crankbaits and also pitch jigs and soft plastics at any good targets as well as under the docks and around any shaded areas near the docks. You may also find some fish on offshore structure with carolina rigged plastics and crankbaits as well as jigs and finnesse plastics. Topwaters are doing good as well, try buzz baits and other hard type topwaters along the shorelines and around the docks and any debris you see in shallow water.

Crappie are good on brushpiles and bridges, fish everything in 10 to 24' of water and check for suspended fish around the bridge collums and above the brush. Jigs and minnows will work so give both a try and you should find some active fish.

The catfish are biting good on fresh cut shad, go shallow on the north end of the lake and fish all depths as you head south. The drifting bite is good throughout the lake in 10 to 35' so put the lines out and cover lots of water. This is the time of year the big fish get hungry so go give them a try.

Thanks as always for reading and I reccomend that you book a trip this winter for some of the best fishing of the year. You can contact me at 903-603-2047 or 903-887-7896

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.40 feet above pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy. Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The Hybrids and Whitebass have started schooling in water from 6-14 feet at the dam and any wind blown shallow point or seawall. Late evening schooling action is also happening in shallow coves and points throughout the lake. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinnerbaits and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 8-16 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service.
