Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report for September 2, 2014

Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at 4.67' low and the water temps are in the low 90's. The clarity is slightly stained but good overall, and there are still some biting fish out there despite the heat.

Crappie are fair in the brushpiles in 12 to 20' of water and also can be found under the bridges. Stay with minnows and jigs and experiment with depths from 1 to 5' off bottom. There are a few fish in the treetops on the north end as well in 10 to 16' and they will usually be suspended in these areas too.

Largemouth can be caught around the boat docks that have water on them especially those with more than 5' of water. Drop shots, shaky heads and crankbaits are good in these areas. Another way to find bass is to graph the humps and points in 8 to 20' and find some debris on the bottom with any fish and bait on it and trrow carolina rigs and deep crankbaits.

Catfish are good drifting the north end in 6 to 15' of water with fresh shad or cut bait. You can also cathch fish on the humps in 14 to 24' on bottom and floating a bait 2 to 10' deep across the middle of the lake on the south end in 25 to 40' of water just stay high in the water collum where the bait and oxygen is. Jugs work really well for this technique and you can drift them while you rod and rell fish for some extra action.

Hybrids and sandies are schooling early and late in the first and last hours of daylight. Stay with slabs, spoons, swimbaits and topwaters and enjoy. Areas to look are the Dam Flats, Spillway humps and Key Ranch flats. Keep your boat in 14 to 20' near a dropoff and fish the bottom while you watch for surface activity them move to them and cats into the surfacing activity. During mid-day fish near the bottom near the drop for best results.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 1)

EXCELLENT. Slightly stained; 75 degrees; 0.43 feet above pool. The hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy! Look for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the Dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. The hybrids and white bass have started schooling in water from 4-14 feet at the dam and any wind blown shallow point or seawall. Late evening schooling action is also happening in shallow coves and points throughout the lake. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinners and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 8-16 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Catfish are excellent the first couple hours of the day on retaining walls where the shad are spawning using fresh cut or whole shad on a bobber or with a light weight. The bite slows as the day progresses because the catfish are feeding heavily at first light. Later in the day target catfish on the first drop-offs in 5-15 feet of water. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
