Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report

Jason Barber here again with the www.kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar creek lake. The lake level is about 6 inches below normal and the water temperature is in the mid to high 80's... Clarity is about 2ft at the south end and 1ft up the lake.

The crappie are on brushpiles in 12 to 24' of water and also suspending around the concrete collums of the bridges. Jigs and minnows will both catch fish on most days.

Large mouth are on brushpiles as well and also hiding around the many docks... for the docks try small plastics on shaky head or TX rig and medium diving crankbaits. On the brushpiles go with heavier Carolina rigs and jigs and deeper diving crankbaits.

Hybrids and sand bass are schooling early on the south end mostly but also up the lake some. Stay around points, humps and flats in 10 to 20' and keep your eyes on the horizon. Later in the day try slabs and trolling when the fish set up on bottom.

Catfish are still spawning some but can be caught in multiple depths. Try around the rocks and on humps for eating size fish and drift in 10 to 30' for bigger fish.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 7)

EXCELLENT. stained; 73 degrees; 0.38 feet below pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy! Look for bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the dam on edges of drop-offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. Target drop-offs along seawalls early in the mornings in 5-14 feet with slabs. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinners and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 17-26 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Catfish are best early morning along shallow shoreline walls and rocks targeting shad spawn. Later in the day drift various depths from 10-20 feet of water with cut shad and rough fish. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
