SEVEN POINTS -- A new sign announcing visitors' arrival in the city is almost finished.
The Economic Development Corporation, the Department of Transportation and city officials cooperated to get an attractive sign erected recognizing Seven Points as a gateway to Cedar Creek Lake.
Construction workers are now completing the sign's base structure, which is made of Austin stone bordered with Oklahoma flagstone. The signage will be attached to the structure, and the area around it will be landscaped.
It is being built at the southeast corner of Cedar Creek Parkway and Seven Points Boulevard near the Seven Points Brookshire's store, which is also the intersection of Highways 274 and 334.
Triad Construction was awarded the contract to build the sign. The EDC approved funding of $10,234 for the project, which is being constructed to TxDot specifications.
EDC and city officials said they believe the sign will help improve Seven Points' image.
The mission of the Economic Development Corporation of Seven Points, Inc. is to "help create a diversified, vibrant and sustainable economy through attraction and support of business enterprises meeting the vision and standards desired by the citizens."
The group meets the third Tuesday of each month a 5 p.m. in the Seven Points City Hall chamber room.
