Northland Communications kicks off local holiday food drive with customer incentives

As the holidays approach numerous Cedar Creek Lake charitable organizations and businesses are launching food drives, but Northland Communications is offering an incentive to encourage customers to contribute food for distribution to the needy. Northland, which provides phone, Internet and television cable services in Texas and several other states, is offering free installation to new customers who contribute at least 15 non-perishable food items for distribution by Cedar Creek Lake's food bank. Existing Northland customers who upgrade service will also receive free installation for their new products. Northland serves both residential and business customers. The company will collect the food donations at its interactive showroom at 1708 W. Main St. in the Sears Shopping Center in Gun Barrel City. The food drives runs Nov. 1-16. Northland, which is headquartered in Seattle, Wash., is a major communications provider that owns and manages smaller-market cable systems in Alabama, California, Georgia, Idaho, North Carolina, South Carolina and Washington in addition to Texas. Northland was founded in 1981 as Northland Cable Television. Over the years it expanded to include high speed Internet service and digital home phone service. In 2010 it transitioned to Northland Communications to provide a complete range of communications services tailored to meet the needs of both residential and business customers. GOOD. Water lightly stained; 63 degrees; 0.02 high. Largemouth bass are good working bladed spinners, football jigs, top waters, and lipless crankbaits on creeks, shorelines, and coves. Hybrids and sand bass are good on main lake points and creeks with swimbaits, slabs, and jigging spoons. Crappie are excellent with minnows and jigs in brush piles, near creeks, boat docks, and bridges. Catfish are fair in 2-12’ with cut bait and chicken liver.
