Starbucks Sign Shows a Monday Opening

According to the Sign in front of Starbucks in Gun Barrel City, they are set to open tomorrow.

Is Cedar Creek Lake ready to sustain two coffee shops in such close vicinity to each other?

Time will tell and demand will keep supply of one or possibly both open and operating. They each offer individual characteristics for different people use different ingredients and have an overall different vibe when visiting each.

The fact that the company, who does extensive research when deciding where to put their next location, chose Gun Barrel City shows promise to the future of the Cedar Creek Lake Area’s sustainable growth. Starbucks is not franchised and is operated by the corporation down to the lowest detail of implementation.

An article published in Forbes explains the way Starbucks and others choose the location of the next investment. “Retailers are now turning to big data (another big industry buzz term, but one that largely warrants the attention) to help them do just that. Simon Thompson, director of commercial business for location-analytics company Esri, shared with Forbes how ArcGIS Online, its technology platform for visualizing data in the form of maps, is helping retailers ranging from Starbucks to Dress Barn fine tune how to pick a store location with the goal of driving more traffic and boosting sales.”

With summer coming right around the corner, one can only speculate Starbucks imagined the idea that the weekender and vacationer folks who frequent Cedar Creek Lake, will be back to the lake soon.

As a local, one can only hope, the two coffee shops in town, owned by Lake residents, Coffee Love in Gun Barrel City, as well as, And More Coffee located in Eustace, will see a surge in customers for a long time to come.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jun. 18)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 86 degrees; 0.20 feet above pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass bite is on fire while fish continue to be in a feeding frenzy. Focus on flats throughout the lake and on edges of drop-offs, especially on cloudy and overcast days. Use slabs on drop-offs and along seawalls early in the mornings in depth of 5-14 feet. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinners and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 17-26 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Catfish remain consistent targeting humps in 10-20 feet of water, but there are a lot of small fish. Bigger fish can be caught drifting cut shad, carp, drum or bream. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
