As the lake rises, the good news just keeps flowing. The latest is that Don's Port Marina and the Tiki Hut will reopen for the spring season.
The marina and restaurant recently launched a new website announcing the facility would be operating in full swing again after partially closing down last year in the severe drought. The former owners announced the drought had killed the business.
The bank that foreclosed on the business property kept the marina and store open until now to accommodate boat owners, but everyone missed the Tiki Hut.
A new owner will be relaunching the popular enterprise, according to information circulating in emails and telephone calls by principals involved in the reopening.
The new website can be viewed at http://donsportmarina.info/. A new Facebook page also was launched. The online publications reveal a new phone number for the business.
The announcement of Don's Port's reopening comes on the heels of the announcement that former Cedar Isle owner Lew Talbot is opening a restaurant and club to be called Coconut in about mid-April. It will feature boat docks and all of the other amenities of Cedar Isle, which burned just before Christmas in 2012.
Coconut is just down the road from the old Cedar Isle location in the former Beijing Gardens Restaurant that stood vacant for about a decade. Numerous workers are toiling daily to get the business open for the high season. A complete renovation of the building inside and out is underway.
Now, there will be two locations for Cedar Creek Lake residents, weekenders and tourists to visit by boat.
Don's Port will again be a full-service marina offering fuel, boat repairs, a marine store and a restaurant by day and a swinging entertainment venue and eatery by night.
The opening will come as good news to people who want to buy units at the condominium complex across from the marina and restaurant. Several potential buyers said they were only interested if the marina and restaurant reopened.
More information about the new owner of the marina and restaurant will be revealed in coming weeks as the purchase is completed and plans are made to reopen.
