'America's Got Talent' judge urges Kadie Lynn to pursue career with head held high

Kemp resident Kadie Lynn Roberson’s journey on “America’s Got Talent” ended Sept. 7 when she failed to advance to the finals of the popular talent show.

After  Kadie Lynn and other contestants learned they would not be going to the finals, talent show judge Simon Cowell told them they were amazing and to hold their heads high. “Just keep doing what you are doing and learn from this experience,” he said.

Many contestants on the talent show who did not win the grand prize have seen their careers boosted and their bank accounts filled as a result of the exposure. The contestant winning the grand prize will receive $1 million.

The City of Kemp showed its pride in Kadie Lynn, who is a native of the small Cedar Creek Lake area town, after she advanced to the semi-finals of the show.

A billboard on Highway 175 welcoming visitors to Kemp includes a large picture of Kadie Lynn with her guitar and reads, “Proud Home of Kadie Lynn.

Kadie Lynn competed in the semi-finals of the popular NBC talent show Sept. 6, and local fans gathered at Chaps in Seven Points for a show watch party to cheer her on.

Kadie Lynn is only 12, but she is already a popular singer, songwriter and musician who frequently appears at local concerts.

When she won the spot in the semi-finals of the talent show, the Cedar Creek Lake area showcased her in a parade and public concert. Residents and businesses around the lake posted signs of congratulation to her.

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 28)

GOOD. stained; 77 degrees; 0.24 feet above pool. The hybrid striped bass and white bass have made a full recovery from the spawn and are now back in the main lake in droves and are on a feeding frenzy! Start looking for heavy bird activity throughout the lake on flats and near the Dam on edges of drop offs especially on cloudy and overcast days. Focus on using slabs on drop offs and along seawalls early in the mornings in depth of 5-14 feet. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinners and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 17-26 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Catfish are good on humps in 5-20 feet on fresh shad, or drifting in 15-25 feet of water for bigger fish. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
