Hey folks, Jason Barber here with the www.Kingscreekadventures.com fishing and lake report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is just below normal pool and the water temperature ranges from the mid to high 50's. The water clarity is stained to muddy heading north.
The catfish are good deep and shallow, you can catch them drifting the mainlake in 20 to 40' and you can also catch fish shallow on the north end in 2 to 10' of water. Shad is the best bait but you can get bit on other baits as well.
Large mouth are making a move towards shallow water with some fish already moving into the back of spawning areas. Try spinners and soft plastics in 1 to 6' around any visible cover along the shore, chatter baits and jigs are good too.
Crappie are showing up in the marinas and deeper boat docks as well as in the creeks so shallow activity could start at any time. Jigs are good but Minnows will work too, so mix it up a little.
Sandies and hybrids are already being caught up in the shallows and in the creeks, this is definitely affecting the deep bite as it's gotten very difficult to catch them deep. You can still find some fish staging on mainlake points and humps bouncing slabs on the bottom in 10 to 24' as well as in 3 to 10' on Rat-L-Traps and small crank baits and swim baits.
