Gun Barrel City to host electronic recycling event for lake's residents, businesses




Cedar Creek Lake residents who don't know what to do with old electronic equipment cluttering closets, garages and storage rooms can rid them from their lives. Gun Barrel City in cooperation with East Cedar Creek Fresh Water Supply District is hosting its first electronic recycling event at the city's Street Department Office at 332 Maintenance Drive on Saturday, July 27, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The site is behind the City Park Pavilion. Items to be accepted include items that run by battery and electricity, such as computers, laptops, CRT monitors, servers, printers, fax machines, copying machines, routers, switches, cables, phones, stereos, speakers, DVD players, VCR players, televisions, coffee makers, irons, cameras, washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators and anything else that has a cord attached to it. The event is being funded by the Sabine-Neches RC & D under the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's SEP Program. Community Recycling Solutions, LLC, will be supervising the event. Fishing Report from TPWD (Jun. 11)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 81 degrees; 0.46 feet above pool. The hybrid striped bass and white bass bite is on fire and with fish on a feeding frenzy! Start looking for these fish on flats throughout the lake and on edges of drop-offs, especially on cloudy and overcast days. Focus on drop-offs and along seawalls early in the mornings in 5-14 feet of water with slabs. Reports of great catches in 17–26 feet of water using silver or white slabs and spinnerbaits off the bottom with a very slow retrieve. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for fish under bridge pylons or under docks in 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days.
