The Cedar Creek Civic League held their meeting on Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Cedar Creek Lake Library in Seven Points. Preceding the 1:30 p.m. meeting, the ladies met at Tavi's in Seven Points for lunch.
Before the program, President Judy Crews called the meeting to order with the Pledge of allegiance in unison and devotional given by Donna Malik "On Being A Woman". Twenty-four members were present along with Nancy Hayes from PSUMC as guest.
The program was given by Cedar Creek Lake Library staff, Sandra Price with son Kyle, Sue Brown and Larry Spiegel. Each spoke of their involvement with the library by highlighting the services and programs that are available to young people and adults. There have been 120,000 visits to the library over the last year, as wel as recipients of two grants giving the library the ability to organize four field trips. Volunteers and readers are always welcome at the library. A mobile unit is set up outside the library every other Monday to assist folks in job searches.
The group received a Certificate of Appreciation from Headstart for working their program. The meeting was closed with discussion of the November 9, 2015 Joker Tournament.
The purpose of the Civic League is to promote individual skills, interest and activities of members through civic, social and philanthropic activities.
Visitors are welcome at 1:30 p.m. on the last Monday of each month. For more information, please call President Judy Crews at (903) 887-2947.
