Dallas' WFAA Channel 8 anchor Gloria Campos loves peace, quiet of Cedar Creek Lake

Gloria Campos is an award-winning television journalist who can be seen nightly delivering the news for Dallas' WFAA Channel 8 TV station. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work in journalism and public service. Friendly and accessible, she is a frequent sight in Cedar Creek Lake stores and restaurants. She also often participates in charity events on the lake with her husband Lance Brown at her side. Her pasttimes are reading, gardening, movies and "junk-tiquing." She notes that Cedar Creek Lake provides the perfect setting for her downtime interests. CCL.com: Are you a weekender or a full-time resident? Campos: I'm a weekender, and we chose it because we have friends who invited us out for a Labor Day picnic -- we liked it so much we immediately started househunting. CCL.com: What are your favorite things to do and places to visit on the lake? Campos: I just love the peace and quiet! I don't fish or water ski, but I like to eat fish. There are so many good restaurants we rarely cook out. I think the SEADOS are the most fun you can have with your clothes on. CCL.com: What has been the reaction of your family and friends to the lake when they visit? Campos: They like it too. My sister is the fisher person in the family. CCL.com: What do you view as the benefits of being on the lake as opposed to life in the big city? Campos: Did I mention peace and quiet? A slower pace, small town and friendly folks! CCL.com: What new conveniences and attractions would you like to see developed on the lake? Campos: Hmmm, geez. That's a good question. I think the kids would like more to do on dry land, maybe mini golf, a water park? I have no idea. I like things just the way they are.

Cedar Creek Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jun. 18)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 86 degrees; 0.20 feet above pool. Hybrid striped bass and white bass bite is on fire while fish continue to be in a feeding frenzy. Focus on flats throughout the lake and on edges of drop-offs, especially on cloudy and overcast days. Use slabs on drop-offs and along seawalls early in the mornings in depth of 5-14 feet. Reports of great catches using silver or white slabs and spinners and retrieving off the bottom at a very slow retrieve to catch these fish in depths of 17-26 feet of water. The crappie have also migrated back into the main lake. Look for them under bridge pylons or under docks where the depths are between 3-10 feet. Guides have been reporting exceptionally nice catches on sunny warmer days. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. Catfish remain consistent targeting humps in 10-20 feet of water, but there are a lot of small fish. Bigger fish can be caught drifting cut shad, carp, drum or bream. Report by Jason Barber, Kings Creek Adventures.
